Purple Tang Fish

After the first practise of my fish hybrid I decided that I needed to work more on the colouring and overall look of my fish creation. I thought that it would be useful to no longer work from a variety of fish but to focus on one for inspiration. I have found that I prefer the darker colours of fish for my hybrid; I think that the bright colours are pretty, however I find the darker colours are more realistic. The darker colours also work better with the idea that I am trying to portray of my hybrid being a explorer needing to be camouflaged. I am still interested in using Bioluminescence as a form of inspiration and I will incorporate this feature in the form of elements of bright or reflective colours in my design.

The fish that I have decided to focus my work on is that of the Purple Tang fish, which is a tropical fish found on coral reefs mainly distributed in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Gulf Of Eden and the Persian Gulf. This fish is very beautiful and it has many different details on it such as spots and stripes, features that I think are very beautiful which will be nice to include in my design. This fish also has many different shades of purple on it, but also includes a bright yellow tail and yellow detailing on the fins. I think all these features make the Purple Tang a really interesting fish to focus on as I think that I can create a really nice design from it. I think that it is important to simplify my design as it will create more impact. In previous units I have thought that 'more is more' and struggled with this, however I think that I am better to keep my designs more simple and execute them well.
