This week I finished creating my moulds for my human hybrid. Last week I only cast the moulds in the silicone mixture. This week I continued by applying the Baldiez mixture as well as creating the actual prosthetic piece. I also created a second gill prosthetic with the clay sculpture. I had created a second gill which I intended to use, however I was not pleased with the way that the shape turned out so therefore decided that I would use the same sculpture twice. I am pleased with the way that the pieces turned out, and I think that they look do look very fish like. In previous times of creating my prosthetic pieces I have failed at the stage of applying the Baldiez. I have always applied too little making the pieces very hard to apply, therefore this time I have spent more time on this part to make sure I carried it out more thoroughly. I applied three layers of the Super Baldiez and Alcohol mixture and made sure that I gave it chance to dry between each layer by using a cool hairdryer.
I created the prosthetic wounds by using a quantity of 10g of A and 10g of B and around 14g of deadener. I also added pigments into the mixture so that I could give my prosthetic piece some colour. I am slightly concerned about the scale prosthetic as I think that it might be slightly small, and I can also see through the silicone mould that some of the scales are odd shaped. I hope that once it is removed from the mould this is not so noticeable. One of the gills that I created was also made in more of a hurry, and this has led to a few air bubbles in the mixture, however I can only see this on the bottom of my prosthetic so hope that once it is removed they are no longer noticeable. I created my prosthetic pieces with a nude colour, I did this as they will be covered in bright colours so did not have to worry too much about colour matching them to my model's skin. I am pleased with the way that they look now and am looking forward to removing them from the moulds.
