This is the new face chart that I have created for my hybrid human fish. After my first practise I was not pleased with the face chart and work that I had designed. I thought that the make up was too bright and too unrealistic looking to that of an actual fish. For this second design I have focused on the Purple Tang Fish. I decided to focus on one fish so that my design included more realistic colours to nature. The Purple Tang is made up of different shades of blue and purple so thought that it would be an interesting and beautiful fish to focus my design on.
I wanted to keep the contours of the face strong in this design and the highlights bright to keep and create some definition in the face and to make an alternative shape. I wanted to keep the centre of the face and under the eye bright, but below the cheekbones and around the nose and mouth darker to add definition. I wanted the edges of the mouth to be dark so that I could create a fuller and more fish like lip. I have used a white on the centre of the lip to also add to the pout like effect. I added the darker colours around the eyes to make them more round, also creating larger more fish like eyes. I will also be applying a thin line of eyeliner to the top lid as well as a pair of lashes to add to the wide eye effect. On the prosthetic pieces I have added definition in between both the gills and the scales to add depth and dimension to them. I will also be applying a silvery shade to add further definition. The colours of my face will also be continued down the neck and onto the arms, but in a less intense colour. They will also be carried on into the hair to continue the characterisation and colours. I am much more pleased with this face chart, I think that it is more fish like and definitely more realistic than my other design. I am aware that it looks quite a lot like an avatar on the paper but once applied to the face it looks more fish like. I hope that it will look better in the final images and that I am able to do it justice in the assessment and carry it out to a high standard.
